Bio

Charlotte-based artist Dru Swan was born in Dallas, Texas, in 2001. She currently works as a studio painting assistant and does commission work from her home studio. Swan’s paintings are intimate yet monumental, exploring self through a colorful figurative lens. In 2022, she earned an Associate in Fine Arts from Central Piedmont Community College, and her Bachelor in Fine Arts at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2025 where she received the Roderick MacKillop Memorial Art Merit Scholarship. In 2026 Swan’s paintings were showcased in the Feminine Form Exhibit at the Mint Museum Uptown. In 2024 her work was exhibited at the Dark and Divine pop-up at the Harvey B. Gantt Center for African American Arts + Culture and the It's Like, Nude! pop-up at the McColl Center. Swan’s free time is spent at weekly figure drawing sessions, pursuing group exhibition opportunities and staying inspired for her next painting.
